I've never shown natives or had much to do with them. I've shown riding horses and hacks. However just taken on my friends section D as she needs to sell him and has just had a baby so I agreed to help her. I'm taking him to a show next wkend and have entered him in the m and m class. My friend wants him left natural so he has a long mane and tail. Any tips on showing him? Should I trim his beard, ears ect? Thanks in advance for the hel

if you are showing against other section D more than likely you will find that there tails and manes are pulled but not short. trim beard and ears.

The breed soc says no excessive trimming, so I just get rid of Genie's mane, and don't touch her mane and tail at all, leaving it completely au natural without pulling it. You'll want to put a single long plait just behind the bridle to show off the head a bit more.

Don't touch the mane and tail, brush them till they are perfection when flowing as she moves

hehe (romanticising slightly)

agree with fi, single plait behind the bridle to show of head is normal.

Leave feathers, just sparkly clean!

And pictures for us all to go oooooooo at!

i sensitvely trim/pull mine so its not obvious but neat and natural.

Ditto this, i think tidying up under their jaws can really show off the shape of their heads.
