I'm taking a step into the world of in hand showing! i've shown before but it has alsways been with natives under saddle. However I know have a gorgeous idxcob piebald gelding who is rising two.

Now my problem is he isnt bitted, do i need to bit before we go showing? or can i show him in a filly slip? Would he need to be plaited he isn't a traditional, but he is under 3?? I hope this makes sense we aren't going to county level this year so I guess we have a little bit of lee-way. I was planning on doing youngstock classes and in-hand classes with him.

Please can some one give me some advice?

Geldings can be shown either bitted or not so a leather slip would be fine. If he is very heavy weight show with lots of hair, legs included then show him as a traddy. Otherwise it's plaiting I am affraid!

thanks! best get pulling his mane then or invest in a solocomb! he's more ISH than traditional, not to sure where the cob is but it's lurking in there!
