I am looking at taking my lad in a ridden coloured class soon. Having never had a coloured I need some advice.
Am I right in thinking I turn him out as his type, hunter, riding horse etc?
If so what type is he?
I have a hunter double from my last horse, but he seems alot finer than he was. So hunter noseband and browband.
Or narrower noseband and ribbon browband?
This is also depending on his hoof situation if I go to the show- but would still like to know what type.
Thanks

difficult - stamp wise he's more riding horse but i'm not sure a coloured browband would suit him - i'd prob go for a thinner hunter style

Id do a sports horse class, or riding horse class and there are riding coloured classes that you can do, coloured classes are usually split in two seperate classes either traditional (unplaited class with hairys as I call them cobs and mountain/moorland) then you would be in the other class with the finer types and would plaited up and trimed
(not sure on the tack for coloured classes maybe a ribboned browband but dont quote me on this)

Personally I wouldnt say put him in a hunter class as you tend to see more solid colours in a hunter class but saying that it depends on the judge at the show.

good luck xx

he is lush yum yum, love coloureds xx

Hunter noseband on a double bridle will be correct, providing the nose band is not too heavy (wide) but certainly needs to be that type. I'd bob a coloured show browband on, red/blue and white for example would be nice colours for him without going too OTT and will just set his head off a bit and you can match those colours with your tie etc.

great, thanks
thats what I was hoping, I put the hunter bridle on him, just looks a bit plain on his fine head so ribbon brow band should look nice
