I am looking to start county level next year with my boy, hes been in a snaffle all this year as he is a novice but ive been told he should be in a double bridle/pelham if im going to do proper showing. ( Which I am)
Wel I rode him in a normal jointed ( same joint as his snaffle) and he hated it didnt shut his mouth threw his head in the air and just was aweful!
Is there any soft pelham/fake pelham something that my horse might like! Any of you showing people have any ideas!

Dont use a rugby pelham they are hideous.

Try a double. If your horse doesnt approve try a show pelham - it has all the leather work of a double but a single mouth piece in the form of a port mouth. I fibd that horses that go well in a jointed snaffle go well in ported pelhams more so than jointed ones.

Thanks il try the double. Dont think he would like the rugby pelham it would be to much to deal with. He's a very sensitive boy with a small head so dont want anything over powering his head either !!
