My 22 year old Arab x mare can get quite fiesty when being ridden in showing. She is ridden everyday in a Running martingale but she can't wear one for showing. Is there any other type of tack I could use for ridden showing which would work like a martingale.

No you cannot use any type of martingale for showing, unless its working hunter, which I guess its not.
What bit do you use? A pelham or double should be sufficient for control if schooled correctly in one.

Yeah we knew not to use a martingale. She's just in a standard linked snaffle. Since not too strong in the mouth, just known to throw her head about and neck strong when no martingale on.

If you are wanting to show more why dont you try a pelham ,it is correct and should help with her way of going. Most horses are happy to go in one and it could make all the difference.

Okay, thanks for that. My friends old pony was ridden in one so I'll borrow Hers and see how she rides in it without her martingale. Cheers for that!
