Never having wanted, or needed to but a sparkly browband in my life, it has become apparent that I need one for riding horse classes.

I wear greeny brown tweed with a yellow tie with tiny burgundy spots, the tie can, however, change. What I am really looking for is colour ideas that are subtle and suit bay horses....

for 2 weeks now, and cant decide what to get him. They are all so...well....garish!

I really want something sparkly (!) but simple and subtle. And do I have to have those humungous things on the side of his head?

Think a lot depends on if your horse has a big head...don't mean that in a bad way, or just mean if he's got masculine head, sometimes they can look a bit OTT on some heads if they have big rosettes on the side, I think you can get away with more bling, colours and pizzazz with a smaller hack type head...but thats just me. With tweed, more traditional looking colours will look nice, greens, burgundy like you mentioned in your post.

Sometimes less is more, all very beautiful brow bands though, no wonder you can't make your mind up, don't think I'd be able to neither!

I'd talk to the lady from cornerstone browbands on ebay, all mine come from there and i've got some stunning browbands that did not cot the earth, were made in the exact size and pattern i wanted and the service was brilliant.

for countyr shows with a bay you are best off sticking with burghundy or red. Go for a nice thick browband and a nice thick noseband to give the illusion of a shorter head.
