I have a 3yo unbacked coloured cob. Next year I plan on taking him in hand showing, just for experience.
I dont mind whether he gets placed or not, Im not really competitive, I just like to enjoy my horses.
But, out of curiousity, does he look like he would stand a chance in a coloured class? He has a lot of white, do they prefer less white?

Coloured class is about way of going, etc ... nice marking just add to the overall picture of a beautiful, well-schooled horse. Having said that I do have one mare marked so beautifully that she turns heads even when she's being a complete moose  ... but in general show a well behaved, well schooled horse and you will never look out of place.

Markings of your coloured horse should not be any consideration unless you are entered in a colour and markings class, possibly tho the judges personal preference will come into play if its a close call in the placings! Judging is still all about the way of going or ride, conformation and hopefully to a certain extent manners [for me anyway]. Ive noticed you have banged his tail twould be a nicer look if it was snipped into to make it look less straight [must be a word but cant think of it! ] Practise running up, next to his shoulder, for a nice active trot , good luck and have fun!
