Hi everyone I'm thinking of having a go taking Mr trad cob into a local showing class ridden. Only problem is we haven't really cracked canter yet. He is only 5 and I am just back in the saddle. He has centered with other rider who brought him on, but I'm not able to keep him in canter as of yet.

Would it be possible to go do a ridden show class and not canter or will we be marked down? Id like to give it a go but don't want to be a laughingstock!!!

Thanks :) xxx

From memory the coloured classes I have done have involved cantering around together as a group on both reins, so may be difficult if you can't. How about some inhand showing until you get sorted with canter? :) p.s if you find a way to keep/get feathers white let me know ;)!

Yes the colour classes do, as with most showing classes.

Could you look at either a novice horse or rider class, they tend not to ask the class to canter as a group & then you could tailor your indervidual show to only show a very little canter, mayb 1/2 a 20m circle if you could keep it this long? The judges in these classes would usuall give good feedback for you as it's a kind of training class.

Might be a thought :)
