Hi all,

Have the first local RC show of the season on Sunday. We're off to defend our championships (yes I am one proud mother ;) )

I have an inhand bridle for my boy but was bought a beautiful hunter bridle for christmas. Which should I use for the in hand classes?

in hand bridle with in hand brass ring bit or hunter bridle with pelham (and sliphead).

I just can't decide

Personally the in hand bridle with the brass bit would look smarter, the hunter bridle would be better kept for ridden classes, will probably have people disagreeing with me!!!

I'd use the hunter bridle, looks alot smarter on cob types, IMHO inhand bridles are too light and fancy! I show my coloured in a hunter bridle and last time out we won our class, and the judge praised our smart turnout as being "totally correct to type and very pleasing on the eye"!!:D

If he's five and isn't in a youngstock class then you should show him as you said, in his hunter bridle with his pelham with double reins.

Unless the etiquette has been turned on it's head since I showed seriously. Someone else should be able to back me up though I hope?!

Just to add my inhand bridle is a one with flat noseband and browband. Piccie for reference below:

do you still think the hunter and pelham would be better?

Whilst it is a very smart inhand bridle, now he is old enough to be ridden he should be shown in his ridden bridle :)

Thank you MB. I thought I might have remembered incorrectly. I haven't shown since I grew out of the 148 show pony class which was a while ago now!! I'm getting old.

I dont think either bridle would suit him. Send him to me, I have one that would be perfect ;)

What a gorgeous boy!!

But agree with the others, hunter bridle [=
