showing dress code help

Hi, we have recently acquired a welsh pony and want to compete at M&M lead rein showing. I have read a lot of threads about what to wear and have got the gist, but my question is this. If I don't want to wear matching tweed what would be correct to wear as lead rein handler. I want to be correct but I have a beautiful jacket for my daughter that someone gave me and would be a shame not to wear and so do not have a jacket to match it. Would the next best thing be the navy blazer/jacket and culottes/skirt that show pony leaders wear? many thanks for any help.
 
You must both wear tweed for M&M - sorry. Depending on how seriously you want to do this then that will ultimately impact what you should wear. I invested in a LR outfit for daughter and matching for me 4 years ago 2nd hand and have just sold it for the same money I paid for it! They hold their value very very well so long as you look after them. I also bought a nice hat too second hand and wore an M&S long navy corduroy skirt, thick tights (they don't ladder!) and shoes that I could run in. However, the pony that can 1st in the Novice LR champs at NPS did not have matchy matchy so personal choice really Look at Equinational photos for tips!
 
Mcnaughty please do some research before advising others. Matching tweed is not compulsory, nor is tweed compulsory for the handler. A good number of handlers wear brown or green military style jackets, a bright scarf and brown skirt/kulottes.
 
This is mine from a few years ago, being in the top 10 of HOYS classes with a Shetland every time. My random kid that I met 15mins before the class had a jacket that matched quite well thank fully!

This is my current one, again always in the top line up with my Shetland. Not tweed, not matchy matchy, same skirt as the one before as the one that came with the jacket was AWFUL! And it was a Pretty Ponies one that was made to match ...

I've had numerous 'Granny Suits' over the years and still have them all lol! One day I will get round to selling them as I really do hate doing Lead Rein with a passion!
