Showing folks -tack question

What colour is 'correct' for showing a dark bay,brown or black?
And has anyone actually ever been 'marked down' for tack colour?

Havana tack is always correct for showing, however at local level you should be fine in black.

Ditton above. Brown is correct but at local level neat, tidy and clean is fine IMO.

In my experience of the standard of turnout at local shows the colour of the tack is the last thing on anyone's mind!

At local level black is fine-I even showed in synthetic tack to start with! As long as it fits & is clean & tidy colour doesnt matter

So is there a rule about black tack on bays.??
I prefer brown and not into showing that much but friend is into it and just someone who shows said correct tack for bays is black whilst I always work on brown tack correct -black depends on judge. I have seen folk marked down for not having a matching ensemble (local level)

No, havanna is correct regardless of the colour of the horse (though as others have said, as long as it is clean, tidy, matching and fits then you are good to go for local level!)
