Have my first show next Sunday and since I have won best groomed in hand every time I have been there, how do I..

1 - get her moult out? I am using massive amounts of elbow grease - but she is still moulting

2 - get her grease and scurf free without bathing her, we have no hot water at the yard - I would not have a cold shower, why should she?

3 - What do I do with the 5" part of her mane that has 1" of mane left where her neck cover rubbed - removed it a month ago and it is growing back but stilll so short?

has she been rugged up ? .... I know how you feel , got balmoral in 7 wks time and missy is moulting like mad .

Why not bring a kettle out with you and give her a sponge down, try and get the hair out that way
 
SSM- fleeces and waffles are gd if you use them as an underrug, the static and 'drag' of the material is a helping hand for moulting!

The hair - keep going at it I'm afraid.

Getting the grease out - 'hot cloth' her. Dip a cloth into hot water, wring it out and then rub, doing a patch at a time. Apparently this brings them up pretty clean.

The mane - why not make a false plait from some tail hair and stitch it in?

ATTM I'm using a fleece, a shedding blade and a rubber massager thingy (which is great). He's being groomed up to three times a day with these.
 
She is rugged, and am rubber currying till my arms hurt!! Guess for showing I am a perfectionist and hate anyone to be cleaner than her!!!!!!!!!!!!

How do I do an implanted plait on 5" - I can do it on her forelock!
 
Hi SSM

You can get those blocks that fetch the hair out quite effectively - shall have a look and get back to you. I would elbow grease, show shine and a damp tea towel to try and shine her up.

You won't like this, but if you turn her out in a sticky field wtihout a rug, you will be amazed at how much hair will be left on the floor. Are you brave enough to try that?
