I have decided to do a little showing this year just so horsey doesnt get too bored with dressage.

She is a full TB and there is a show not far in the lorry on the 20th april.

If i do 3 classes and forward enter its only £12 ( either that of £5 per class and £6 on the day ).

I think im going to do either novice rider or senior rider and maybe ridden solid colour - if this is suitbale for a bay tb?

I might do condition and turn out for my last class so can anyone give me any tips? I know i will have to plait and clean EVERYTHING inc every scrap of leather soles of boots etc but can anyone think of anything else?

Normally they run a white tissue down the front of the neck and behind the horses elbow to check for dirt, pick horses feet out really well before you go in, have the correct amount of plaits in the mane(seem to prefer if they are sewn in), really clean saddle, bridle, girth and numnah, polish the external parts of your bit(baby wipes are good for this),wipe the bottom of your boots, make sure cuffs and collars and the palms of your gloves are clean and unmarked, wear a hairnet and last but not least make sure you have a button hole! Think that's most things covered!!

Plait with thread. Tails can be pulled or plaited. Use a double bridle if you have one. Non pony club you should wear spurs but dont if its pony club!!! Buttonhole (small) and no jewellery. Brown or black leather gloves. No numnah. Plain girth (leather looks smart). Make sure also that all stitching is safe and tack is fitting correctly!

A little bit of baby oil in the tail also brings a shine up. Trim the whiskers and put a bit around the nose too. Chalk white socks.

Don't forget to round off the corners of your number with a pair of scissors(add to list) and tie with a long black or brown bootlace, (add to list) with the end going through your middle button-hole and tied nicely in front.

And wear ............

Don't forget to take a camera (add to list) for pics to show us on here. If you haven't done much showing before try to find the time to go and watch some of the earlier classes just to see how it is done.

Good luck!!
