Hi, I'd like to have a go at showing this summer, only locally but it would be nice if we did okay! The problem is that I am completely clueless about showing, I have NO idea what classes I can do/what I should wear/what he should wear.
My horse is 4yrs in May and is 15.1/15.2. I am not entirely sure of his breeding but I know that his sire is a gypsy cob and his dam must be a finer breed as he doesn't have a lot of feather and not as chunky as a cob.
I know that he probably can't be ridden at the shows this year but what ridden classes would he be suitable for in the future??
My phone is messing about and won't let me copy the photos URL but I have photos of him on my profile.
Thank you

Nothing stopping you riding him at a show, he's classed as a four year old so an adult.
Classes wise obviously coloured, but as he's a finer type he should be trimmed with mane plaited. Depending on the show you can also do things like best turned out etc for experience.
First time out it might be best to do one or two inhand classes and then ride him around the show ground for experience.

What colour tack and numnah should I use? Also what do I need to wear? I have a tweed jacked but I don't know what colour tie or shirt to wear.

Brown tack, snaffle bridle, no flash, martingale etc. Numnah should be discreet and brown to match saddle, if not don't use one.

Tweed jacket is correct for inhand and would be fine for ridden. For inhand you need smart trousers ideally rather than jods, for ridden beige/yellow jods with long leather boots, brown gloves, tie, navy hat.

Tie - Navy or red sometimes looks good. you need to see what goes with your jacket. Charity shops are good for getting a selection of ties cheaply.

Shirt - slight yellow is best

Don't get too hung up about colour co ordination at local shows. Just neat and tidy turnout for human. I would suggest that the organisers at the show would be more than happy for people to come and support the show with the wrong colour boots than not to turn up at all. Most of all, enjoy and have fun.
