Im planning on doing some showing with my pony on the 3rd of april, and probably going to do open pony ( in hand ) and best turned out. Ive never done any showing and would be grateful for some advice on what i need to wear for the classes and what i have to do in them....

Thanks :)

I’m presuming tack and turnout is ridden? In which case you need:
-Cream/canary Jods
-White/cream or blue collard shirt
-colour co-ordinated tie
-Depending on your horses breed, either a tweed or navy jacket.
Long ridding boots or gaiters (unless under 16, then joddy boots and clips)
Hat (preferably with flesh colour strap)

Tack wise is hard to say without knowing the breed of your pony. But certainly brown tack unless your pony is black or grey. And a matching colourd numnah.
Again depending on breed or type would depend on either a plain, plaited or colourd brow band.

In tack and turnout, all you will need to do is walk around the ring (on the right rain) And then line up while the judge checks Your tack and turnout.

In inhand class you need to wear:
-The opposite colour trousers to your horses legs i.e if your horse has white socks then wear dark pants. If your horse has dark legs wear cream/beige pants.
- You can stick with your shirt/tie/jacket combo, or you could wear the shirt and tie with a waistcoat.

During the inhand class you will again enter the ring on the right rain, walk around until the stewed tells you to stop. Then each horse will individually trot to the back (when you have finished your trot make sure your pony is standing square and thank the judge with a little nod)
Then you’ll line up and the stewed will send you out one by one to the judge.
When you get to the judge you need to stand your pony square again and then when the judge asks walk away from her and trot back towards her. Make sure you trot DIRECTLY towards the judge, she’ll move out your way when you get close.

Sorry if this sounds a bit patronising, didn’t mean to until I read it back through.

A tweed would be your best bet unless your pony is very fine. How big is the pony as if under 14hh you should really wear joddy boots with clips even if your are over 16 (for the ridden class).

What everyone else has said plus

don't worry

ENJOY!!!

Get yourself in the middle somewhere of the line up and follow other people's leads that's how I learnt ;)
I went into my first show ring with absolutely no idea but loved every minute!
Hope everything goes well :)
