I am 13 years old, and have been riding since I was 4 year old. My family brought their first horse when I was 7. I only got into 'proper' riding when I was around 8/9, I went to riding school. I stopped in the beginner class, and learnt all the little things- my family had horses which I rode, but I didn't have my own till my 9/10th birthday, can't remember.
My mum is experienced and knows alot about horses, so when I got my own, the pony was a 'been there, done that' pony, and my mum helped me to learn. I've only ever actually wanted to hack out, and just have general pleasure riding. However, recently I have been thinking about how fun it would be to show! I can canter, gallop etc. But that's the only thing i've ever need when hacking. My mum is currently teaching me on my positioning when jumping. I have to make home made jumps:p. What do you have to do to show? I'm scared that i'm not a good enough rider?

It really depends on the class you enter. they all have different requirements and turnout. Probably the easiest to start with is tack and turnout. You and your horse must be immaculate and turned out to type (you didn't mention what the horse you ride looks like so maybe share that and we can explain how to turn out to type). The class itself is mostly just walk and trot as a group then line up. The judge will then call you forward one at a time and look you both over. Walk as a group again then you'll be called in into placing order and receive rossetes etc. Other classes will be different but which ones you enter will depend on your horse.

Can you post a picture of your pony... this will give us an idea of what he looks like, and what classes he may suit?
