Hi all!
Just a quick question, ive decided to get my little big man out to his first show in a couple of weeks time.
Though, what do i put on him? black? Havanna?
I dont want to have to put a rubber bit in him just yet as he's still only 10 months old.. though he is a hell of a lot bigger than me and sometimes a little strong when he's around other horses.

What are your suggestions?

Showing should really be brown tack..... just a nice plain inhand bridle due to age
Up to you on bitted or not, although he should be starting to be introduced to nice gentle, hardly there bits, to give you a tiny bit more control.... although most judges accept young horses rear and get giddy!

Browband, can be fancy if you would like

I dont think plaited at his age, just nicely brushed and smartened!

Appy's are not shown plaited, unless in a class which demands it, such as hunter etc. If shown as an Appy, then shown as they come. So many of them have such thin manes and tails that plaiting is not an option.

Why not check out the British Appaloosa Society guidelines or the ApHC? You can basically show your horse plaited or unplaited depending on what suits it best. Brown inhand halter sounds nice.

I show my appies western though so they get to wear a blingy show halter- and I get to stay comfy in my jeans and cowboy boots lol!
