hi
is it acceptable to show my cob with his legs left on, i want to do some indoor winter showing soon and want to leave his legs on this year he will have a full body clip????
will he get marked down for this???

thanks guys x

Cobs have to be trimmed or traditional so for the former hogged and de-feathered.

Depends how feathery he is I guess - feathers off but legs on might look a bit odd?

Although if it's small local classes I'm sure no-one will comment.

Do you mean his feathers clipped but legs left in when you clip him? I believe that is acceptable in the winter for showing... don't quote me on it though!

yes he is hogged hes normally fully clipped out but this year i was thinking of leavin all his legs/feathers on because last yr when he was clipped out he got bad mud fever, is it not the done thing for winter showing???
its quite a big quailifying show so i dont want to stand out like a sore thumb!

show cob, welsh cob or tradtional????
show cob = ALL off
welsh or traddy you can clip body and leave legs.

all gone! and also, if he has feathers there is a greater chance of mud fever coming back, just not being noticed as easily due to it being covered up by the feathers.

Use barrier cream/udder cream or something before turning him out to keep the mud off
