Hi all,

I have an 18mth pony colt from dubious origins. He is gypsy bred and was taken on as a welfare case in May. He will be cut a some point, but the essential parts of his anatomy have yet to put in an appearance!

To cut a long and tedious story short I am quite pleased with him and he moves well for his type.

I would like to do some in-hand classes with him for education and curiosity - but which ones?

He is chestnut and presently approx 12.3hh.

I know there are gypsy cob solid classes now are these worth entering? - any other suggestions?

Jammy dodgers and a lovely cuppa for any advice given! :D

He could go in youngstock classes, best condition, in hand cob type if he is chunky enough.
I have a feeling that 2 year olds have to be bitted if they are entire.

There are some classes for driving type too as well as the "fun" classes [Mane and tail stuff!] which do still give experience in the ring.
The Traditional Gypsy Cob Association may give you more information on classes for solid coloureds and as above the youngstock classes too . Some shows may have a novice class [not to have won !st ] best bet is to gather few schedules and have a look and see what suits
