Showing peeps plz help

Sorry if this is in the wrong place but would relly like some advice on a new tweed jacket. I intend to wear it to do inhand with mare and foal and also local ridden hunter and working hunters.
Two of the cloths I particularly like are 9503 and SS71. Which do you think will be best and practical (ie not show the dirt too easily)

I also would like either with velvet inset collar and piping detail above pocket. Is this ok for these classes?
Or do you think some thing different?
 
Both lovely jackets - although I wonder if I prefer 9500.

Not sure how correct the velvet collar is to be honest - but others can advise.
 
Please don't wear a velvet collar or any other braiding if you are going to enter hunter classes or mare and foal classes. You need to blend in to be smart and elegant for those classes and velvet collars have always been known as for children, not for adults.
If you look at the professionals, I'm pretty sure you won't see a velvet collar anywhere except possibly in the pony classes and braiding is a definite no-go; ok for show jumpers, they don't seem to mind looking like baubles - but not for showing! Sorry, I'm a real snob when it comes to turnout, it should be correct and not detract from your horse which is the one being judged.

I too, much prefer the 9500 like Amy, sorry!
 
Thank you for that. To be honest I have never really been into the showing scene, but have had my arm twisted to give it a go with the mare and foal and thought seen as I need a jacket anyway I might as well get one to do both in. Thank you all for your imput, it is valued as you all seem to know what you're on about. I know enough about showing to barely fill the back of a postage stamp with.
I will give the velvet a miss as I really don't want to stand out like a sore thumb. Still not decided on the cloth though

It's a bit like being a new child at school, nobody likes to stick out as being unusual, so if you can blend in so much the better!

Had another look at the cloths; any chance you could get one made without the collar and braiding as the cloth you like, 0070 I think, is a really nice one? Other than that, Caldene used to make some very nice ones too. It'a also an idea to get a background colour that compliments your horse and use matching accessories too.

They said they will make any combination to order. They happen to have the SS71 in my size in stock but it has the velvet so is no no. Think I may go and pay them a visit tomorrow.
I did wonder about matching the cloth to my horse, but there is the problem. According to local show schedule I could ride a dark bay (16.3) in Open ridden hunters and working hunters, a chestnut (15.2) in small ridden hunter and the brood mare is bright bay and the foal was due yesterday but still not arrived yet.
Think this is why I've not done it before, its too confusing

I like ss71, to be honest velvet collars are now personal choice but i wouldnt wear one in a hunter class (you will see them on riding horses though).
Mare and foal you can have anything you like.
