Hoping to qualify my little one in hand for some of the bigger shows this year. Did well last year in hand as 3 yr old and i used a white halter, however i didnt know if he would be better in a nice small hunter bridle ?

He did have one but just broke the damn noseband but before i go shoping i wodnered whather i should replaace with another hunter noseband or buy him a nice in hand white halter ?

Any ideas what would look best? 4yr old gelding

10.4 In-Hand Tack
10.4.1 Youngstock may be shown in a white webbing or rope show halter, leather head collar or show bridle (excluding 2 & 3 year old colts, see rule 7.1)

10.4.2 Mares/Geldings four years old or over may be shown in a white webbing or rope show halter, leather head collar, show bridle or riding bridle.

If you show in a bridle, do you just leid the horse with the reins over the head, or do you need a proper leid rein.

Much prefer the look of the hunter bridle with flat noseband also

You can buy a leather lead rein to use with in hand bridles, they have two attachments that go on the bit rings, then join up into one long lead, (as opposed to a thin leather lead-rein that attaches to the noseband for kiddies' lead-rein ridden classes). It is basically a leather version of the brass chain ones you see many horses wearing for in-hand classes.
