What class can a 15.3hh horse do in the UK. I was told there are no ridden classes for a horse that height - just wondering if it's true. Is there no small horse ridden class then like we have here in Ireland?

It depends what type it is also whether it is really 15.3 or will measure at 158cm which it the cut off for small hunter and riding horse, large hacks go up to 15.3 or whatever the cm equivalent is, so there may well be options open to you.

Thanks be positive, I'm afraid this one is closer to 16hh, so there isn't the equivalent classes for in England that we have here. But she could at least do working hunter I hope, which is something.

showing classes are either upto 158cm or over 158cm
So at 16hh you would be in large classes.
There isnt a set height that they must be just an under or over 158cm

Im in the same boat by homebred i was hoping would stick at 158 and show as a small hunter has gone up again, so this year she will contest ridden sports horse (over 148cm)
And next year once she has matured a bit more she will go into the hunter classes as a lightweight,

It depends what type your horse is.
Hunters are split at 158cm's
but large riding horse and large hack classes are different

The rules are usually the same here in Ireland. Small Hunters are 158cms and under as are Small Riding Horses. Some local shows have an upper height limit of 160cms for Small Hunters - I have no idea why, but a few of them do.
Intermediates are also 158cms. You can do workers if the horse is typey enough and has a good pop.
