Today didn't start to well as madam took one look at new trailer and basically said, thats a new one, don't think i'll get in it! 35 mins and parked up against a wall later and we were off.I went to enter while my mate got Soph off the trailer, she then broke free and went for a jolly round the showground!

Anyway we came 3rd out of three in the condition & turnout. Won the in hand hunter (there was only 2 in it ) Then we entered the ridden .... To start with i never got chance to warm her up as some girl kept cantering round and round the miniscule warm up area that doubled up as a collecting ring. I was worried as we would have to do a group canter and i've never cantered madam in a group before. She was quite good in that so i started to relax a bit then i clock the horses on the other side of the ring GALLOPING!! no one told me i'd have to gallop and i've never galloped her!

Soph had also clocked them and knew what was coming, i came to the corner and just gave her half inch of rein and she was off like a rocket! total brake failure, i nearly went round the ring again trying to stop her and very nearly flattened the judge in the process!!

. needless to say we came 4th out of four. The judge also gave me a special rosette as she said we were the best novice combination.I reckon she gave it to us as ,A, i managed to stay on the bugger and B, we didn't run her over!

and big well dones! You went, you saw and you came back in one piece - that's the most important thing!!

Only thing I would suggest is pop your noseband up a couple of holes, as it looks a little low

She is very nice and shiney in your pics

Flo_Bell, the whole bridle was way to big for her but fellow bald livery told me i had to have a double in hunters ! think i might buy her one that fits as judge liked her and told me to keep doing the classes.

She looks lovely - although swap your sliphead over - the buckle should be on the opposite side to the throatlash. Its so damned confusing trying to remember all the 'rules'!!!

Hope you go and do it again!

Yay, a massive well done and what fantastic rosettes! So glad you had fun, even if brakes were slightly lacking at times (they are highly overrated anyway)! Great photos!

YEY I was l was looking forward to seeing this post!

You have lovely piccies there (see arent u glad you took the camera!)

Well done for the gallop, iv frequently taken and additional trip round the ring than I should have done
grin.gif
and judges are used to being targets, hence why she wont have held it too badly against you!

Cant blame the judge for liking her, she really is a lovely horse!

WELL DONE for in hand! she looks smart! I agree with crazymare about the sliphead, but if you are buying your own bridle, will make life easier.

You both look fab! Definetly some frame and windowsill piccies there! Keep showing, she is great!

So the buckles on the cheek pieces need to be on the other side just leaving the throatlash buckle on the normal side? is that what your saying ? Will tell my friend, who owns the bridle, so she gets it right next time she shows her horse.
The judge was quite complimentary about her really. I never did practice running her up,just hoped for the best on the day but i think S may have done it before as i ran like stink and she kept pace with me,didnt once try and P off in front or drag behind.Judge said in the ridden class that her trot up was fab and she really showed herself.Daughter was in charge of the camera and the battery died as we started the trot up.typical!
Here's a couple more just for you Lucy

Aww she looks like she really did you proud!

Ye if you look at the bridle, with the slip head on the side its currently on, all the buckles are on one side of the bridle, hence it makes it look bulky and unbalanced.
If you put it on the other side, then it just balances it out and makes the overall image look better!

Tell daughter well done, she should be put incharge of camera every show!
