Hi there i have a home bred irish draft x TB Mare im after some proffessional opinions as to weather she would have the potential to show? I showed her a lot in hand as a yearling and two yr old at county level and it was a lot of fun. She was always in the top five in hunter classes .. Im not very experienced at ridden showing classes so i wondering is it worth me trying? She was broken by a proffesional show rider who always liked her and suggested she would do well. But shes not seen her for two yrs. What do you think? Does she have any showing potential??
She is 16.3 and has 9 1/2 inches of bone no blemishes or splints etc she is the bay in my signature and has a beautiful attitude so would very willingly work nicely for a judge if nessasary.

Its not the best but all i have on my pc at the moment !

I would definatley enter some classes this year and see how she goes, looks like a nice LW hunter, you should have alot of fun with her - super looking horse.

yup lightweight huntress i feel there
she looks lovely and if she jumps go for working hunters too!!!

At 16.3hh with 9 1/2 inches of bone she is not a lightweight!

Middleweight would be more the class to go for possibly even heavy weight - can't really tell from your video

The ideal stamp of a lightweight hunter is:

16.1hh - 16.2hh with around 8 1/2 inches of bone -capable of carrying up to 12 1/2 stone usually will be full TB or 7/8 TB

Ideal stamp of Middleweights:

16.3hh with around 9 inches of bone capable of carrying more than 12 1/2 stone but not more than 14

Ideal stamp of Heavyweight

9-10 inches of bone capable of carrying over 14 stone does not need to exceed 17hh in height

Hope this helps

doesn't look MW in the vid - like I said best to enter a few classes and see where the land lies - I have a welsh sec c who is a crap M&M but a super hunter pony - we found that out by trying our hand at a few classes!!

Going by the video she looks more MW to me, but if in doubt or if borderline you are always better to go for a weight below. Better to be top of the lightweights than bottom of the MWs as she won't stand out. One of my horses is borderline between MW and LW but I compete him in LW hunter in Dublin as the MWs and HWs there are huge!!!

Hey thats great many thanks everyone..She is currently recovering from some lameness issues o im really hoping we can getback on track and have a go this summer !! If we do ill let you all know how we get on ! ill try med weight
