) anybody any ideas on products, or tips on how to get the perfect white tail for the show ring?? Also any good products you can recomend for enhancing his coat colour or making it shiny?

Or any showing products you can think of that you cant live without?!!!

. I use their 'blue bag' type stuff, which is great, and have just got the whitning paste which is ment to be amazing (use on tails too), and some cover up stuff as big lad has a stupid scar on his fetlock which won't grow hair!

I'm using the leg whitener on friday, ready for saturday- i'll let you know how I get on.
 
using a wash with a "blue" in really works ( i will not say which detergent) but i would suggest PM the lovely FMM for advice, she has the most beautiful grey heavyweight hunter, HOYS winner too! x ( by the way FMM what ever did happen to that gorge riding horse type with injury that I said i would buy?x)
 
Fairy liquid is always a good one for bringing up white tails, I use lemon in the summer as it smells similar to citronella to prevent flies. Gold Label show white paste is brilliant, im not sure if it comes in a paste and a powder but you paint it on after bathing, I find it best on legs when they're wet then put on wash wraps. Then before you leave for the competition brush the legs down, it will have all soaked in & looks natural. Maybe not the best stuff to put in tails as a paste tho as it seems to make them sticky, especially if you have a tail with more than one colour in it!
Also a show jumping yard I visited recently used diluted Dettol on a damp cloth to bring up their coats.
 
gawd - it's not me anymore that spends hours in the wash box - those days are well past (I live 80 miles from the yard so it is more meet and greet rather than brush and scrub with the horses these days!)
The injured RH has gone to Scotland to event and jump - he is now broken and going very well - hoping to see him in May when they bring him down for a showing clinic.

Everyone has different concoctions they use for getting the white bits white. If you have a mare, their white tails are often very yellowy - a problem which geldings don't have - their dirt is just dirt! Any of the blue shampoos (once the tail is spotless) will work. However, some tails just never look clean and you will probably end up having to grow out the stains. Some people swear by fairy liquid and very hot water, followed by the blue shampoo. If you have real problems, lots of people (not all showing ones) use the tail bags or wraps to help keep the tail looking as good as possible. Chalk on legs still works well, but make sure you chalk before you put any hoof oil on!
 
I'm cheap sooo...

Wash tail in water with soda crstals (found in washing powder/laundry detergent section of Tesco)

Apply "#49 Ultra White Minx" rinse by Fanci-full (found in old lady's hair dressers)
 
I used net curtain whitener on Axey's tail. I mixed it into some hot water dunked his tail in and left it to soak in the bucket for 10 mins, couldn't be bothered to hold it so put bucket on a chair and he stood still the whole time
Only used it on bottom of tail tho, and then washed with Champion tails silver highlight shampoo
