Pic on bear please .

ALso the show a wee local one ?

Tweed jacket for yourself, For riding horse you will need a coloured browband and double bridle if you can . If not a snaffle is fine, For hunter classes a flat noseband rather than a rised one . Cream/beige jodhpurs and shirt and tie to match your browband, Cane and gloves .

He's not really any of them, but closer to Hunter than Hack or Riding horse IMO. So turn out as per Hunter Class. Hacking jacket and tie, plain hunter bridle.

How is Bertie by the way???

Hi, i wouldnt take him in the Hack class as he bit too chunky.....however he is perfect for P/B M&M and i really, really like him!!.......Canary jods..long black 'clean and shiny' boots....white/cream shirt..i would go for white..and a nice green tweed jacket with a red or green tie....a tie defo, but i would go for red seen as you are doing M&M. and a nice black velvet hat.

hope that helped lol!

Thanks Helen Horse!
I didn't know what type of horse was a Hack horse LOL!
We have only ever done M+M.

Oh Ive got my sexy new mountain horse high riders that cost me £83!!!

Piebald sparkle he does hunt, but I haven't got my nerve back yet for jumping!

Isn't Bear a Welsh Cob? In which case you should do M&M

Hacks, hunters and riding horses refer to a type of horse, no neccessarily a particular breed. You'd never pass as a hack, you'll see anglo arab types in that...very fine ladies ride. You could possible get away with hunter, but he'd have to be plaited and the feathers won't do. Also his action (if a D) won't be correct.

And a riding horse does not refer to any horse that you can ride, but means a build heavier than a hack but not a hunter. Often TB's do well in this class.

I hope that makes sense. Just because he hunts doesn't make him a hunter, otherwise you could have shetlands in which cobs, massive ID...

Ahh I see, he looks like hes more Cob than TB or hannovarian! Then yes go for the partbreds, but the trouble is that PB classes tend to consist of more TB than welsh partbreds (the opposite to yours) he's maybe got too much bone...but I'm no expert!

Will you be plaiting him up? Cus if you do and you take of the feathers you could possibly get away with being a heavyweight hunter. I say that tentitatively as I don't do hunter classes!

Is it a local show?

At least your asking questions, willing to listen to what people say and want to give it a go! No one can fault you! I hope you have a good day, will keep my fingers crossed for you!

Country_gal there was 2 updates if you care to look

Anyways Sophie, Is there not part bred M&M classes you could do ? Personally I think he would do really well in these classes instead , the riding horse/hunter and hack are for more finer types Ie tb x .

Although you say he has abit of tb in him , hes not really suited to these classes if Im being honest , Although saying that .... lol you could still put him into a hunter type class but his feathers would have to come off along with him plaited up , and its not really Ideal if you are wanting to do M&M classes this summer .

Green tweed is good , again personally I wouldnt go for a white shirt , go for cream or canary to match your joddy's .

Your bridle that you have is fine .

Bear is a gorgeous lad

There is PB M+M,

What about Dissmilar pairs?
I dont know if its ridden or in hand but my friend's daughters 13.2hh is a mini me of Bear. What does it involve?
I have never heard of it before! The classes at this show are £2.50!! I never heard of them being so cheap! And theres prize money!

disimilar pairs are two horses that are totally unlike each other i think, so bear and a minature shetland for example.

He does really need to be plaited for PB but give it a go.

Dissimilar pairs, hmm never heard of it! I've done ridden pairs before, friend of mine has near identical gelding to mine, they get on so well we did our show with our feet in each others stirrups. Her foot in mine, my foot in hers!

Not sure what would be involved, but at that price its all about the novelty

Thing is if his mane is long and thick and you try and plait , its not going to look great, Where as if you were going to pull it and plait it properly then fair enough but as you want to keep him looking natural well then it will look best not plaited if you see what I mean, make sure its brushed out, nice and shiney , Explain to the judge if asked that you are going to be doing M&M classes this year with them .

With it being a local show I cant see them being too hard on you

Lol They do look abit like golf balls
grin.gif

Is the lead rein not an open lead rein ? I always show tommy as if he where in an m&m class at all the local ones anyways , If its a county one then hes either shown as an m&m or plaited as a show hunter .

I once went to quite a big county show , where we missed the lead rein m&m class , So we decided to stick him into the show hunter lead rein , Tommys mane is very VERY thick , so it was a rushed job and with great difficulty I got his mane plaited , talk about golf balls lol

please do not plait a welsh sec a, if a judge is ignorant enough to ask why, politely tell them she is an M&M and is therefore shown in a natrual state. as for bear, if you were doing welsh partbred classes, it is correct to trim all feather and plait, BUT if you are doing a local show, leave him as he is and tell them he is a native pony!! TBH i cannot see you being penalised for that, as long as you are both neat and clean and you have fun that's all that matters!!

LOL Colleen! They are brill for a rushed job! That took me bloody ages and see the state of them!

He is registered,
http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/joiners+budweiser
its only the riding club local show. I thought he would look smarter if he was done up!Bear's getting his mane and tail sorted out in a couple of weeks so I thought she could do him too. I am scared about her doing Buddie cos his mane is lovely! He's got a poxy tail though!

Oh OK, I'll have the split ends off and leave him natural! The other ponies that go in the class are welsh A's and they all get done up so I didn't want him to look out of place.
I'll probably take him in best grass kept and M+M small breeds in hand too. He always does well in them, he's only done lead rein once but he was good.
