Hi prob going to sound a bit silly but here goes, being a dressage peep i havent much experience in the show ring so my little girl has a lovely little Shetland gelding really true to type a general stunner and were looking to do county level lead rein showing with him BUT he has has no papers is this going to make a big difference asto what you can and cant do???if so is there any way you can get hold of said papers???

Thanks for your replies was sure that was the case,we've done local level and he's done really well just seems a shame he cant progress further oh well madam will have to be extra nice to daddy lol.

Unfortunately yes he does have to be registered but if shes a daddies girl well then

Do you know who bred him or his sire and dam's name?
You would need these to try and track down any breed registration.

Yes he needs to be registered, but don't yet give up. You may be able to get him traced via DNA. Here is the link to late registrations

Certainly worth a go if you really want to go further with him. If he is a nice sort, he probably is well bred and could be DNA traced.

If you have an idea who his parents may be and he has relatives still alive, you may be able to get him DNA tested.
