Mostly - what on earth do I need to wear?! And what looks good, and I can buy new or secondhand cheaply (ebay works - or send links!)
I might start showing my YO's fell stallion, but I am quite clueless when it comes to showing - riding, fine, what to wear?! Any tips for not looking like a tramp OR an idiot at all would be appreciated!

I have beige jods and Brogini black leather boots - I don't think these are an issue

I only have a grey/black suede-y Harry Hall hat - I presume something like a (navy?) velvet hat with leather harness would be correct? (Not too bad, I can use it for dressage too I guess!)

Tweed jacket - would like a nicely fitted one as most jackets seem to hang off me :o I wouldn't say that my waist is THAT narrow or my shoulders are THAT broad, but most jackets look like tents on me, or pin my arms to my sides...

Shirt/tie rather than stock I think? Some help with this may be needed!

Luckily pony is fully kitted out :D
I'm hoping this'll be a good experience for me, I don't get to compete much anyway so it's a good opportunity and a chance to ride more horses, but would like an idea of how much it's going to cost me! :p

Thanks!

i agree with you about the hat - navy velvet with a leather harness is good.
I have always found Caldene to be a good fit in jackets ( I am small framed too) and you could try one for sizing in your nearest tack shop before looking for a second hand one.
Charity shops are useful for good silk ties - and you could pick out a colour in your tweed in a tie, and find a shirt that looks good with it all.If your hair is long, secure it in a bun if you aren't young enough to get away with a pony tail.
A plain leather covered short whip, brown girth, webbing or leather, and leather (not white) gloves should finish it off.
But most importantly, as long as everything fits, is unfussy and clean, then don't worry about it - just have fun!

for velvet hats that look nice but aren't about £100, try on a just togs junior showjumper, i've just bought one, it looks smart (though it's a bit tall if that makes sense  i think the name for it is 'high crowned' or something :o ). i have a Sherwood Forest tweed jacket and it's a lovely fit :)

I've been collecting gear over the last 6 months ready for taking my fell out this summer (hopefully!). I have black long boots, yellow (pale, not neon) jods, a pale cream / yellow shirt (charity shop), a deep blue tweed jacket which had a fine maroon overcheck (bought on the sale rail at Burghley), a maroon tie (Primark!) and a blue velvet hat with a leather flesh coloured strap. Also deep brown leather gloves and a brown leather show cane. Not sure about the hair yet - either a ponytail with ribbons or a hairnet and bun.

I think with me and my boy it'll be a case of "all the gear, no idea!" Remember to have fun and post pictures - Fells are awesome! :D

Think a 2nd hand Caldene may be the way forward jacket-wise - I've always liked Caldenes too and did used to have a navy one :) I hate tweed but needs must! :p

Will have a look at the Just Togs hats, can't remember if they fit my head now - I know that Champion hats don't!!
Just noticed that Caldene also do a leather harness velvet hat http://www.equestrianclearance.com/matchmakers/caldene_prestige_riding_hat/index.html so maybe I'll try to find one of these to try too! :)

Thanks for all the help so far everyone! :D
