Quick bit of advice, am doing a local veterans class next week with J as sharer absolutely loves cleaning/tidying/bathing him and turning him out to the highest possible standard (I really can't be bothered!) but doesn't want to rise in the first class so I am up. Plus planning to do a WH class or two with roo so am on the hunt for cheap tie/shirt etc as usually use stock etc for dressage.
Found a well priced tie, but is bottle green with gold spots 'acceptable' for both turnout as an Arab and for the WH? If so, will be teamed with a brown tweed jacket. For the Arab may then get a green and gold browband ;) to match.
Also - will I be 'incorrect' if I don't have a show cane? Don't own one!
Also - shirts, seem to remember someone saying once if you wash a cheap white shirt with a yellow duster you get a nice suitable pastel coloured shirt for showing?!

I went to the charity shop , got two small spot ties for a £1 and a mans shirt, brand new cream M&S for £3, also a blue jacket just in case it was needed sometime, a bit naff but OK for the local riding school show.
Re showing , what about gloves?

Have both navy and brown tweed jackets anyway but think tweed more correct? Gloves wise I think brown leather is correct but I am just going to use my normal brown ones I think as not keen to spend a fortune as may only do a couple of classes!

Thanks :) will do. He's only ever done one showing class before and was about 5th of 6 in an Arab class - he isn't really 'showy' in a really Araby way and tends to fall asleep in the line up but am hoping in a mixed class he will look more true to type - will try and line him up next to some heavier types ;) he's also a bit cow hocked but never mind it's just a fun local show after all!

Lol my Arab is never highly placed in the Arab classes but normally in the top 3 in mixed :D At the end of the day, if he's the horse you want to take home, your both winners :D

Hope mine is the same! He's definitely a more 'workman-like' Arab, he's polish bred and quite chunky, also very muscled up round shoulders etc. will be interesting to see how he does! Wish he would lose last of winter coat off his legs though!!
Would love to see a pic of yours all kitted out pasha? What bit do you show in?

I have tonnes of pics but can't post them as Photo Bucket is banned at work!

If you PM me your email address I can send them to you!

I show in a little Show Pelham with an Elastic Curb (Derby House) as he is well schooled and goes beautifully in his snaffle normally (only wears the Pelham for Showing)... I did try a double bridle when he started Ele BD, but he backs off it a bit, so gone back to the snaffle and will stay in that as this will be our last season showing proper (Kent County will be his last) as he is now 16, so time to leave it to the young'uns :D

I feel a trip to primark coming on!
Pasha I can't PM from phone but will do later as would be really handy to see. Lol at 16 being the age for retirement - mine is 16 and just having his first go at showing! Although he has had a fairly busy career as an endurance horse then a low level event horse so far ;)

I tried the duster trick with a Matalan boys school shirt, it worked a treat! Lovely cream/pale yellow show shirt!
