Hi All

This is going to be my first year showing my welsh Sec A in lead rein classes.
He will be entering at our local show in M&M lead rein, and lead rein pony.

I have been trolling the internet to find out what tack he needs and so far I have established....

Brown leather saddle - Is a GP saddle ok as had no luck with showing saddles?
Brown girth - Does this need to be Leather or is synthetic ok?
Brown snaffle bridle - Which I have.

Also I am going to be leading him and was wondering if wearing what I show in hand will be ok? This is black trousers, red tie / waistcoat with a western style hat?

The rider is going to be wearing a tweed jacket with red tie beige jods and brown jod boots. Is this correct?

Thanks everyone!

Yep the tack sounds fine, especially at local level.

Ideally your outfit should match the childs as closely as possible, skirts are more correct (if you are female). A western hat isn't really correct either but for local level you may get away with it.

I'll try to find some expamples for you.

JazzyB - what colour is the pony? Black trousers will be fine against a grey, for example, but if the pony is dark you may be better off with beige or similar. If possible, wear a jacket as these classes tend to be very smart! I would agree that a western hat may not be ideal too. Also, from dim and distant memory, I think you would need a show jacket for the pure LR classes (tweed okay for M&M I think) - especially if affiliated. Tack sounds fine - show saddle is ideal but there is not point going to huge amounts of trouble initially, especially if you are just doing local/unaffiliated.
