I've done some local level showing but i'm looking into county level!

I've got my 5 year old ex racer i'm bringing on to jump and show and maybe do some eventing, however i'm unsure what i need to show her.

I know I need a tweed jacket, inhand bridle, ridden bridle (hoping to use double reins for some classes and snaffle for others) however i do have some questions

For inhand what does the handler need to wear? What browbands can the horses wear? Coloured ribbons or plain black? She'll have a flat cavasson nose band.

For Ridden same question about browbands.

Do tails have to be plaited or pulled?

Thanks.

Hi, for the Racehorse classes they do use the coloured browbands, with the flat nosebands, and they all have double bridles. And definatly pulled tails at county level.
For in hand classes, use your tweed jacket shirt tie and hat with biege trousers and brown boots.
Remember that while shirts are a no no at showing, i always use pale blue seems to work well.
Hope that helps.:)

Thank you, im gutted that about pulling her tail, do they accept plaited? or is it a defo no? x

At all the county shows ive been to there all pulled but in theory there no reason why it should make any difference, maybe try with plaited and see how you get on. I dont know whey everybody would want to do it tbh theres many ex racehorse i know that i certainly wouldnt want to stand behind and pull there tails!!!LOL Would not be here to tell the tail if i had tried!!!;)

For race horses you turn out for type. If your horse is more of a hunter then plain browband. noseband and tweed jacket. If more of a riding horse then coloured browband, plain noseband and tweed jacket. If a hack then coloured browband, rolled and stitched noseband and a navy jacket. ↲For the bridle preferably have the double reins for both inhand and ridden. Inhand bridles are really only for natives, youngsters and stallions.↲ Tail should be pulled but you also shouldnt be put down the line for having it plaited.
