I have recently weaned my mare and i am looking to enter in some in hand shows with her and when her fitnes is improved some ridden ones.

But what class do you think that she will do best in?

Mountain and moorland or cob?

also if i enter in cob classes as she is a welsh cob, will i have to pull her mane shorter?

thanks in advance

ps she was in foal in this picture and i didnt know! hence why she is slightly rounded!

for mountain and moorland you need to be reg. with the breed society i think :)

You could show her in traditional cob, then you dont need to pull mane :)

foal piccys? ;)
You could do an inhand foal class as well, or one with foal at foot :)

Sorry, off topic I know, but is this you...... :D

(My company, Big Image Photography, photographed that show at Blackbrook and I just recognised your horse :) Thought you might like the photo if you hadn't seen it already)

That was me at our first show last year! shortly after that i discovered she was in foal!!

I want to show her in local shows nothing to advanced!

so best head for cob type?

Mountain and Moorland definately.

Welshies don't belong in show or traditional cob classes sorry as they'recompletely different types....stick with M&M :)

yup m and m all the way for her!

might need to pull/neaten up her mane a bit, but keep the tail long and beautiful!

btw CUTE youngster! very tall though! :)

She is beautiful, and love sophie's pic of you 2! :)

thank you foal was 8 months old is that pic and is 12.2hh mum is 14.hh so hopefully she might be bigger than mum.

my mare is not registered so that maybe the only downfall but local small shows accept this usually dont they?

local shows 9/10 don't care about registration so long as you dont take a TB into an arab class or a show pony into a heavyweight show hunter class etc

:)

I find it very much depends on the show, many local to us say need not be registered but must be true to type (though the two often go hand in hand obv)

tbf I was going to ask you if she wasnt registered because I am not convinced that she looks 'pure' welsh, to me she looks like there might be something else in there :) .

If you want to turn her out to show her as a cob aswell you can always do as fihunt does on here and running plait her mane and plait her tail up and sewn over.

She's definately an M&M.

Most local shows will either not specify that they have to be registered, or they will have registered and unregistered classes

f she were mine I'd be entering her into M&M, I find that most cob classes are full of show cobs, so hogged and trimmed, and she's very much a native type! She has lovely colouring! :)
