Hi all,
I bought my yearling cob 2 months ago and in that time have been getting him use to being handled as was previously turned out. He has turned into a amazing little man and I would like to take him out inhand in the new year so he sees the sights and smells. He will be 2 in March and wondered what I sould be showing him in as evgeryone has different opinions! I preferablly dont want to bit him yet so can he be shown in a white halter or filly slip?
Any advise will be appreciated!
Thanks!
Laura

He will be fine in a white halter if gelded but when he turns two if he is a stallion he will need to where a bridle and stallion bit but untill he turns 2 he is to be showed in a white halter :) i show my welsh inhand and love it as the more he is getting out the more of a show off he is becoming :D

He has been chopped (to his disgust!) he really shows off even at home so think he will love going out.
Thought he could be in white halter but some say as hes not welsh he can't be?
Thanks!

I personally prefer an in hand bridle as it shows of the head more on white. How about putting a little rubber bit in but showing him off the noseband? My bf shows a 3yr old colt and still shows him off the noseband as he can back off the bit a little. Also some people will say geldings should always be shown in bridles but i think its preference

ETS we have aquired a yearling trad colt (who will be having his nuts off) and who will be showing next year. He's standing at 14.2 now and 6ft rug so we will be showing him bitted more for safety than anything else. Nothing worst than a lose horse running amock on a show ground

I think it all depends on how he is to handle? if he is safe and not strong. do a few more years in a white halter as theres no wrong if you want to hang on from bitting him. my yearling is the same age so i dont want to bit just yet as hes he has al the time in the world for that and we are just local atm.aiming for higher ridden. i imagine you wont be doing any major shows just yet so i would not worry at all at this moment, also if you look up pictures and shows and events they can give you a rough idea if you are in dout :)
