I have just brought (out of pity slightly..) a Grade B 16.3hh Belgian dumb blood. Problem is, I am aiming to event this year and he is terrified of anything not brightly coloured or slightly wet...! He is also not very fast but is big striding which I hope will counteract this.

Obviously not expecting to get to Badminton with him but hopefully some BE100's would be nice.

Brought him a bit too late to take him out after hounds but hoping for some XC schooling and a session with Lucy Thompson next week at Twesledown..!

How many of you have brought a horse onto a different job, and was it a success?

Please don't call them "dumb bloods"

Why not?

I imagined it was much in the same vein as me referring to the lovely ex-racers we own as the lunatics generally. What you say about them matters more than what you call them...

Start off small with someone to lead and just gradually build up?

I think Ahrena on here has a super ex-SJer who now is a super eventer (won 2 BE90s on the trot!)... Might be worth messaging her?

Why not? I brought him, therefore my prerogative to call him as I wish. No offence put upon anyone elses horse..?

And thank you for that! Yes, we will be starting slowly. I think walking through woods was a shock for him at first!
