Took the two boys out showjumping today
smile.gif
Was SGO's second time out for 4yrs, and first time out with me, and Sjing with Goddy is always unpredictable!!!

Entered SGO for the 75cm and 85cm, and G for the 85cm and 95cm (biggest class of the day)
smirk.gif
So was going to be a busy one
tongue.gif

Warmed SGO up and he was a bit quiet, so was a little bit
crazy.gif
as if he isnt going forward, he is prone to being a bit spooky and sometimes likely to stop!
blush.gif
However, took him in, and after being a bit spooky at the first 2 fences and getting a vocal reminder and a bit of forward thinking encouragement
wink.gif
he was awesome. He seriously jumps, and nipped round beautifully. Only drama was after fence 5, I felt something snap, and swiftly lost my sturrip, leathers and all!! So jumped round fences 6-10, including a triple, one legged!!
smirk.gif
SO pleased he wasnt in a spooky mood
tongue.gif
Jumped him off, didnt chance too many tight turns, but came home comfortably clear and in 4th Cue me and SGO's fan club being

Vid, first round and Jump off

Then did the 85cm, again jumped round beautifully, really was pinging and felt amazing. Jumped off again, and really unlucky to have the first fence, he was just distracted by the horse in front of me taking its time leaving the arena
smirk.gif
so just tapped it out, but jumped round the rest fantastically, so pleased as was a nice 95cm JO, and he jumped everything about 1.05!!
tongue.gif
Came 6th out of a decent class
smile.gif

First round, then Jump off

SO was

with SGO

Then Goddy's turn
crazy.gif
Well, he said the 85cm was too small, and as a result never really woke up, and had 1 down. However, made the distances nicely, and to be fair if I hadnt have fluffed the canter up on the approach to 8 and 9 which was a related distance, we would have gone clear
smirk.gif
But very pleased with him through the triple, something he would have previously freaked at!

The 95cm he jumped round really nicely, hit a good stride, but just couldnt be arsed tbh
frown.gif
Had 3 down, so cue
mad.gif
face from me. He is so inconsistant he just winds me up, and at a loss
confused.gif
luckily the win last week is still fresh in my mind, otherwise he would be in SERIOUS bad books!! But least SGO had me
grin.gif

CC as always welcome, and thank you for reading!!!

Really well done with the SGO
grin.gif
He looks great!
cool.gif
and Goddy obviously thought the fences were all in all far to small to bother with
wink.gif
in all seriousness though not sure what you can do to "sharpen him up" a bit other than poss jumping him in weighted boots? and lots of grids but im sure you've done that!

Well done, glad you had a good day

Thanks A, he hits them infront when he gets too depp. Its partially a strength issue I think, and just him getting more confident. We will get there (hopefully)

Lol! And which one do you think we would get away with as a replacement for your bay mare?! A coloured gelding, or a small ginger gelding?!!

Please don't take this the wrong way - but your position on SGO (in all the pro pics) was much nicer than on Goddy. On goddy you looked to be sort of standing in your stirrups, and lower leg wasn't as secure.

On SGO you looked really fantastic!!

Can you think why that might be (I haven't had time to watch all the videos BTW).

Nope I know, I was all over the place on Goddy horse!! Hence the

blush.gif
Im glad someone has said it!! It is quite bad that I seem to ride someone elses horse better than my own
crazy.gif
I'm going to whack my stirrups up a few on G horse, I have noticed my lower leg on G is always crap ( I have been studying
tongue.gif
), he kinda falls away, so I have nothing to wrap around so my leg swings?!! SGO I just seem to be "there" all the time with him
confused.gif
I thought it maybe my saddle not helping, but rode G in SGO's saddle a few weeks back and my lower leg was still awful
confused.gif
Am thinking about it lots, but think shorter stirrups is the way to go on G..... ?!! Unless anyone else has any ideas?!
