We have our 1st Proper show next weekend (as opposed to tiny local shows) usually I wear a shirt and tie belonging to my husband but what should I wear?

A shirt and tie is fine or a shirt and stock. More popular is one of those shirts with a stock collar if you know what I mean.

Perhaps I could embellish my jacket with my name in glued on diamantes? The only problem is I don't want people to remember me when I fall off!!

Well then I will send the pics for a last minute entry to the godiva pics!!
I have nice suede bummed cream jods, long boots (a bit chunky looking) a nive black jacket with white pinstripes it is just the scabby 4 sizes too big shirt that spoils the look!

Where whatever you like...showjumpers don't tend to give a **** what everyone looks like as long as it involves diamonte and named gear! lol!
Seriously though...just wear what your used to wearing...jacket and shirt sounds fine to me!
Most important to feel semi comfortable!! Have fun!!

Just to set the record straight.....
I saw an eventer yesterday wearing a diamante browband, and diamante wraps around her plaits to go into the sj, so its not just the showjumpers that have all the bling!!!
Shirt and tie will be fine, although you can wear a stock shirt with the vicar style collar with no stock if you want to. Another accessory that you need is someone stroppy to 'guard' your fence for you in the warm up

agree with the stroppy person required !! and also needing eyes in the back of your head if your the said stroppy person guarding the fence in the warm up.
if its only the shirt your worried about that will be easy to remedy plenty of them about at reasonable prices you coukld even pick up a really cheap bib.
