Hiya,
Excuse my ignorance, I haven’t done any showjumping competitions since I was a child. What saddle pads does everyone recommend? My horse is black, so which would look smartest? Any particular brands etc?
TIA ?

Where to start...in the UK you can use pretty much anything as far as I know (I'm a saddle fitter and was intrigued by the question as didn't know there were pads in showjumping...semantics :p, they're saddle pads for show jumping ;)). Most people use a square pad but that only came about because of sponsor logos, a shaped numnah is perfectly fine too. I stock and recommend Mattes from Germany, superb quality.

On black you could use almost any colour, nothing will clash.

Generally if you're using a thin pad then something slightly stiff is a good idea, they don't move around under the saddle. Your saddle must be fitted for a certain thickness of pad though, so if you like to use a sheepskin lined numnah or half pad have it fitted to accommodate that pad (and many close contact foam panelled saddles should have something similar under them) and don't simply swap out to a thinner pad, it will change the fit of the saddle.

If you change your title to "what saddle pad for showjumping" and state your location people can then advise what the norms and rules are :)

Le Miuex are very good because I've found they are long in the length so fit most types. They also have the sheepskin liner which is lovely and natural. I have 90% of my vast assortment of saddle pads as Le Mieux (hate numnahs)
