I understand that it is aginst the rules to show a horse a fence before the round starts but wondered what that actually meant. To me I would of thought it was taking the horse straight up to the fence and let it sniff it but would it also be against the rules to ride your horse paralell and close to a scary fence wihtout stopping on your way around the arena before starting your round?

Its no longer a rule. You can show a horse the fence in BSJA

In fact you can show it the whole course if you want provided you a)dont cross the start line after the bell has sounded b) dont exceed the 45 seconds from bell rule if being used.

In fact, you don't even have to cross the start line within 45secs...the clock will just running whether you have crossed the line or not.

BTW You can get the rulebook online via the BSJA website...and it's free too
