hiyaa guys, i have a 148cm show pony and have only just got into the 'showing world'. i was wondering whether anybody had any useful tips on turnout for me and my pony.do u need a wool jacket or would a normal navy one do? do u need bright yellow joddies, and if yes the thinner ones or the more thicker 'fluffy' ones. thanks for all ur help xx :)

If you are doing local, then a normal navy (without any fancy trim) will do. Up on country level you will find most people wear wool - they sit nicer.

Thinner jods are more popular, but again it's not overly important at local level. :)

Polyester....shudder.......try and find a navy wool jacket no matter what level will look so much smarter and be a much better investment as they hold there value much better as your likely to outgrow it :)
Theres loads about at the mo 2nd hand with the champs all going on :)

If you ring Mrs Candy or Showing Selection etc they usually have a good range of 2nd hand wool jackets at very reduced prices, also look on ebay for a bargain. Please not polyester it just doesnt look "right" in the show ring !

Yellow jods look best for show ponies, I find the gorringe canary is yellow enough without being banana and dont forget jody clips if your wearing short boots!

Then get some tan leather gloves and some oxblood boots and you will be the perfect showpony turnout :)
