Anyone know of any shows in the south west that would be suitable for a young coloured horse. Going to start his showing career but hasn't been out much. I'm about half an hour from exeter, thanks

That one on the 10th of march looks quite good. And local to you??.

Yeah would be except theres no warm up there only short riding in breaks, with a young horse its just not practical as everyones trying to get into a tiny space, will try to get to the one on the 25th but looking for more.

are you talking about the Exeter EC show as there is definetly a fairly warm up there although admittedly it is semi underwater at the moment due to the weather!!!!

Once into outdoor season the various shows at Bluehayes, Broadclyst are nice in my opinion. Low key and all sorts of classes from dressage to showjumping to showing.

Hi Try north somerset agricultural society they have a coloured ridden class at the end of the day so although it a agricultural show it is well laid out and you have the whole day to get the horses settled I think you should find it on the web try something like nsas.org it something like that.

I was talking about Exeter EC but the outdoor warm up is actually a ring so they have riding in breaks a couple of times in the day between classes. Wheres Bluehayes?

do they not use the indoor school? random that!

Bluehayes is on the backroad of the airport (old A30). Eg if you come off A30 at sliproad before airport (first one after going under J29 of M5) then continue along that with airport on right and it just there on left about 100m after turning on left to Broadclyst.

Its a big grass field basically that has about 3 shows a year run by various RCs but they are all generally open shows. One in May time another in August and often another one or two here or there.

Also there are several small RC/PC shows round abouts. There is the Silverton PC show the silverton hunt show. Few this time of year but come April May they start sprouting. Town and Country or mole valley are good places to pick up schedules and Equine tourism best place for dates.

Which direction are you from Exeter (im J28) as there are more in various directions which will depend on your location as to whether conveinant!! for example the Grange holds regular SJ/dressage to the west then coombe park to the south.

I'm near Crediton, thanks for the details on Bluehayes will go into Town & Country to have a look for schedules. Poltimore do use the indoor school theres just two or three rings so outside is in use as well

They do showing classes at Alphington at joyce newberry's, there are various ones throughout the summer, and it's easy to get to as immediately off the A30.
The Grange too do shows, we tend to look at Equine Tourism's website to decide what to do, or buy the Western Morning News Friday edition and lots of shows in that.
We sound as if we are quite near you, we use a dressage trainer based in Crediton!
