Hello - just wondering if anybody could suggest a/some shows that might be a good starting point for us this summer?

We're just looking to go along as a bit of fun with our wee pony to try a leadrein class or two. So don't want anything too big or daunting!

Any ideas? Also, ideally, not more than a couple of hours from Greenock area.

Thank you!

Thank you! Unfortunately nothing like a tack shop/pony club for about 50 miles of here :(

I'd had a look on the Riding Diary site. I wasn't sure how comprehensive it was as there didn't seem to be many shows listed? Apart from those at Rowallan - would that sound a suitable sort of place for us to start at?

Look at local riding club websites too, they usually have shows during the summer which are open to everyone to enter.

There's a charity show at Gryffeside in Kilmacolm in June but not sure what classes they have. Have a look at Kilmacolm and Kilallan RC website. Think you want to keep to local shows or PC/RC ones just now rather than Rowallan or Ingliston

There used to be small tack shops in Bridge of Weir and Johnstone but sure you could hunt stuff online or what about local facebook horsey groups?

whereabouts are you? Is L&R pony club no good?

Thank you! I'll look at thoseyou mention. We're over in Cowal so as far as I'm aware, there's diddly squat nearby!

The local agricultural shows will have classes. Largs show is in Inverkip and there is Kilbarchan and Houston. L & R pony club is held in Houston and surrounding areas and they have rallies throughout the summer. Is there not a branch of the pony club in Argyll area that would have things for you?

Thank you, that's really helpful. I didn't know that Largs show was just at Inverkip, that's not far at all. Although there does seem to be a branch of the PC round here, as far as I can tell there's not much activity, certainly no shows. But I'll contact them too!
