Just thought I'd ask if anyone else has tried cardboard bedding and with what results?

I have taken on a load as a trial for my boys. I'm going to try it first on a large and very dirty horse who is stabled a lot right now to see how it goes. I'm hoping I can deep litter with it for my ancient two who need warm dry comfy deep beds.

i am told it is warm, soft and very absorbent. I have rubber down on my floors so hope it doesn't let the wee through and result in puddles underneath.

Any tips / hints how to use it best are must appreciated. Also any negatives?

Thanks guys :)

It's cheap, absorbent and comfortable, according to one person who used it on our yard. The downside is that it went everywhere! I thought it looked difficult to muck out but I could be wrong.

We tried some underneath straw beds and hated it. We went back to using paper and found it far easier. (Our horses are on rubber mats so we always put something underneath the straw to catch the wee. Yes I know we should only give them small beds on mats but I just can't bring myself to do it LOL).

We had a couple of pallets and didn't like it really.

I found it easy to muck out as the manure doesn't stick to it, but it is too absorbant! It gets very heavy, wet and smells. I was using 2-3 bales per week per stable where I only use 1 of flax.

And yes it gets everywhere, the yard was covered!

You just cannot beat Flax IMO :D
