Shredded carpet as arena topping

Has anybody used shredded carpet instead of rubber or other alternatives? Is it a topping or is it mixed in with the sand?

I've been doing some test patches of this in my arena, which rides too deep. You mix the shreds into the sand. So far, it's performing well, though looks a bit scruffy. I am struggling to get samples out of some companies though, which is driving me nuts.

We have just added several bales of this to our outdoor school as the surface was wearning thin and shifting. So far it seems really good and is stabilising the surface.

Excellent, thank u Any ideas of cost or how much you'd need for a 20 X 40m?

No idea because it is my friend's school where I keep my horse. We had to dig it in a bit manually first then it was chain harrowed.
