Shrinking frog!

Hey - does anyone know what would cause a frog to shrink in one hoof only. Horse does have navicular changes for several years and receives plenty of treatment and is sound. He is mainly stabled at the moment and keep pretty clean. I have been using hoof disinfectant on it over the past few days. Heel feels soft and soggy and its deeply cracked and sore to touch - no smell or gunge. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this before I get vet out....

i would get the farrier rather than the vet as he will prob have more experience of this
it could be the result of the frog not touching the ground
