my puppy is really shy around new people - i wouldnt even say its nerves as such as mostly he stands wagging his tail but backs off and hides behind me like a child bless him.
he tends to go up and have a sniff of there hand if they come down to his level and then runs off. but some people arent patient enough to let him take his time.
it took him about 3 weeks of seeing my work collegues everyday before he got used to them - now he loves them and runs up to them and plays etc
do i just accept that he's shy by nature or should i be trying to encourage him to be braver - if so how ?
he is socialised alot and meets lots of new people nearly everyday. i reward him verbally when does 'say hello' to people that have crouched down to stroke him etc
he's about 5 months old now, and was definately the meeker of the litter - the other was very boistorous and brave so he obviously got all those genes
