Hi All

2 weeks ago my horse had his SI joint medicated, instructions where a few days off and then start to hack out straight lines only for 3 weeks.

He felt so much better and I took him out for 2 little hacks after his first week off and was really surprised at how much easier he seemed to walk, however disaster has now struck me and I have out my back out so badly that I am bed bound.

I cannot find anyone to walk him out whilst I can't ride, do you think this will have an effect on the jab working or will it be ok that he will now have a few weeks off?

Sam

Thank you, I am worried it will have a detrimental affect if I don’t do the rehab, I was worried about the risk of laminitis so had him blood teated when they jabbed him and they said he was high on some of his results so I don’t think they will jab him again as risk is quite high. He has a large field to mooch around in with his herd so they will keep him moving a bit.

Just such bad timing 😞 I don’t mind paying someone to ride him but it’s finding someone I trust that understands he is on rehab. I would rather leave him if he would be ok but want to do the best for him.

When my horse had a SI injury, my physio gave me some hands on exercises to do with him and also some in hand stuff. She will also come out and work in hand with your horse as long as she has seen them first for an initial assessment. It costs £30, and call out is free for quite a wide area. Mine was in an accident years ago but he needs on going management or he becomes tight and sore so I'd recommend a physio anyway even it you have to wait until you're back on your feet.

Hope you both feel better soon.
