[/ QUOTE ] Mr Rees reviewed the evidence given by Michelle Green, who broke down when questioned about the large number of animals that died.

He said: "Michelle is clearly someone who cares deeply about her animals."

Urging the magistrates not to disqualify the defendants from keeping animals, Mr Rees said they took on problem ponies that would not otherwise be looked after. He added: "The numbers have greatly reduced as a result of what happened and they can cope."

Definitely not adequate care given.
I suspect there was not ill will and with fewer horses there may not have abeen a problem but overstocking is NOT an excuse. Those horses shoul dhave been put out of their misery

, EVERYONE is entitled to legal representation. Do you think people are guilty until proven innocent and that this is worse that child molestation/rape/murder?

Agree on the representation front but I dont think anyone would think this is worse than rape/murder/child abuse..... which I found an odd thing to say!!

My point was why query how they got representation for this when you see people with legal representation for a lot worse crimes!

Well, if only you all new the true facts. That is what i expect from small minded people that read gossip from the papers. I know the daughter very well and she is very much an animal lover. What has been printed is make you people feel sick. When the truth is they tried to save their animals. So please do not listen to what you hearor read, get facts first before you judge and yes it is horiffic for the family as well.

I was not on about the LEGAL representation, maybe I should have made that clearer at the end of the day legal rep has a job to do regardless of opinions.
I was commenting on the fact that so many people are defending them in the comments when the proof is there to see.

I see that you are saying, I thought you meant legal. Still she might be an animal lover, that animal hoarding problem is a real illness, a mental illness but still as real as a broken arm. I am not trying to justify her actions just explain that people don't always do bad things for bad reasons

"Problem ponies that would not otherwise be looked after"?!?

THAT'S looking after them? Seems more like ponies who've unfortunately been taken on by problem owners.

Sickening video, sickening people.

Those poor horses, if only something had been done a long time ago to prevent this happening.
It seems the RSPCA have a hard job at preventing this kind of thing though, a lot of the time they seem to turn up too late.

A TRUE animal lover would have taken the hard decision to have some of these animals PTS rather than allow them to suffer like this. Unfortunately letting an animal go is not an option for some people, even though it's for the best. If nobody else could take these horses, then she should have made that sad decision. (I'm not saying they should be pts because they are not wanted, just for their own benefit. i don't advocate putting down any healthy animal if in any way avoidable)

disgusting vile people, how could any decent human being possibly let this happen, they want banning from owning an animal again, no reason at all to let this happen.

To be honest, animal lovers or not, if they are allowed to keep horses, whats to stop them doing it again?
Its just so innessicary, weather their intentions were good or not I think that for their benifit (they obviously can't cope), and safety of other animals that could end up in their care, they should be disqualified from having animals.
I just can't imagine those poor animals' suffering, even if it wasn't intended.
"Filly was lying in deep mud and slurry, with nothing to eat and no access to water. Alfie was lying in mud and slurry so thick he was partly buried."
They don't sound like animal lovers to me.. it just makes me want to be sick.

There are lots of horsey people that are willing to take on a behavioural challange though... which could possibly turn them back into a horse which would be suitable for a new home... therefore maybe they should have asked for help before putting them down...

Unfortuantely they did neither, and left innocent horses to suffer

why were those two horses unattended and lying suffering in the mud?

[/ QUOTE ]

i am going to hope and pray they were NOT left there suffering.

Would an animal lover leave those animals in that state, No? an animal lover would have had a vet out to see to the animals before it got anywhere near close to this state. An animal lover, if watching them deteriate, would have had a vet to pts.

This is all just the saddest thing, whatever the 'facts'. Why does this happen time after time, I am truly sickened.
