Im just fed up of it all at the minute. I guess Ive got to January before feeling like this... Im in my last year at uni, and am stressing about exams at the mo and my final year project etc

Im sick of all the damn mud, and the 20 minute trek up and down the field :( Im fed up of lugging heavy haynets about, having no time to ride, everything being covered in mud, and them costing me a fortune :(
I rang the physio this morning and arranged for her to come out, then rang my vet to see if that was all okay.... and no, of course it isnt. Must have the vet out first etc etc, vets are just robbing b******s! Feeling like a stupid hobby to have at the moment!

Sorry for this pointless, moany rant, need to let off steam!! roll on spring pleaseee!!!

I feel the same some days !! I dont know how I coped at uni in all honesty and that was in my last year aswell :/
I manage it better now i'm in full time work than I did whilst studying as Im not revising for anything so I understand your frustration.

Is it just the one horse that you've got?

It'll all be worth it in a few months :) I cant wait for our 24/7 turnout to start again ... the mud is getting to me aswell. It was only last night that I was bringing toby in literally 'wading' through the mud when he pulled a shoe off  the fact that I cant find it annoyed me even more as it was dark and when I went down this morning I had NO chance. Soooo that'll cost me a bit more getting one put back on tomorrow.

But don't worry :) spring is round the corner!
Hope all goes well with you at Uni, what are you studying?

Poor you :(. I'm pretty sick of the mud and haynet lugging, too. At least I've got a nice non-money grabbing vet, though! Yours sounds like a right mean old b*gger.

Sympathy from me too!! Tuesday night was so cold by the time I got to the yard to ride (at 8pm, after a lovely day at work in London) my fingers were so frozen I could hardly tack up, then the first one I rode wasn't in the mood so it took me twice as long to get her working properly so I didn't get on to my second one which gave me the mega guilts. Got home at 10.30pm and went stright to bed!

Last night was 14 degrees warmer (seriously, what is with the mad swings from minus 4 to 10 degrees?) and as soon as I got to the yard my horse gave me a big cuddle then went like an angel for me. The second one also behaved beautifully and it was a timely reminder that it WILL be better in a few weeks as soon as the evenings are lighter....

Chin up :)

Ahh thanks everyone, Im glad its not just me, I feel all guilty and like a traitor for feeling like this about my lovely boys, but man they are hard work sometimes!

No, Ive got 2 TBs, and I look after my mums cob as well, lol...
Im doing Environmental Management at uni which i do love, but im really pressuring myself to get a first, cos I know im capable, but its just making me stress!

And yeah, im really falling out with my vet, they are always like this, just seem to be out to rob you blind, think I am overdue a new vets!

It will start to get better! This time of year is always a drag, and the copious amount of mud we've got isn't helping at all either! Once it starts getting lighter in the evenings towards the end of March it will become a bit easier too.

I'm counting down the weeks until 24/7 turnout begins... 12 to go!

I was having a right old tune up about mud, dark, stress, anything you can think of last night.

By the morning... I was at it again

I'm going against the grain here.

Yes I find the early starts, the weather and the hard work exhausting (I'm old and not in great health either!). Filling haynetes makes my eyes swollen and I sneeze for hours afterwards. :( And yes it's breaking the bank (I only have a not well paid part-time job and no partner's income to help).

BUT for me, after over thirty years without, being among horses again is a joy which over rides all that. I have to pinch myself to check it's true that I have my own again.

We are very privileged. :)

I go through days of being sick to death of it too - yesterday was one of those days - despite loving winter generally. It's the mud that gets me down most of all. :(

Oh come on, that's unfair - there are reasons why vets are obliged to check horses before allowing them to be treated by physios - he would be negligent if he didn't

OP, that is, as they say, life.
