They come up big so you may be ok. They've also just launched a size 9 for the larger hooves out there.
Definitely worth trying the fit kit as you can try 3 sizes.

Answer to your question about needing pliers to fasten them. I find them easy to fasten by pullling the straps with my fingers. I have read that some people use a hoof pick to give them extra leverage
 
My Draft mare has the biggest boots I could find - Old Macs - they spin round before we have even got off the lane. She does brush, especially when she isn't fit but these boots drive me mad. She has big (enormous) round feet.
 
Based on the Scoot measurement chart I reckoned I would need a 6 so ordered the fit kit for size 5,6 & 7.
In reality one hoof was a 5 and the other which was his issue foot was a 4 although we've done so well hacking in them that his feet have expanded so I'm about to upsize.
 
I got advice from the hoof boot expert woman who reckoned they will either be perfect or too small so there's no point me getting the fit kit especially as I want to crack on and get her out this weekend (youngster and I only have a totally bombproof nanny horse to get her out in traffic with for another week or so) so they should come today and I'll take pics and she'll tell me if they are a good fit. If not I can return them. That's assuming I can get them on her feet!

struggling a bit here. Mine is 4ww in front. I can get a scoot 6 on him and it would fit except his hoof is a little too wide in shape to avoid a large gap in from. I think a 7 would twist. I am not sure how a 9 is going to fit if you can just about get into a 4ww. Hopefully Parcel force put in an appearance.

No sign of him. Taken the afternoon off work and not ridden in case we missed him and am now starting to get very annoyed. Same old story with parcel force. From now on I will remember and demand a different courier. They are the only ones who won't leave in a safe place so if you miss them it's a real PITA.

I went on the size guide and also sent measurements with the tape measure in the pic of the hoof to the hoof boutique who I would hope know what they are doing but time will tell!
 
Well I've got them and they seem like a perfect fit to me. Slight job getting them on her feet so can't see that they are too big, but once on they seem perfect. Have sent pics to the place I bought them for their opinion but fingers crossed we will be out stomping in them tomorrow.

If they stay on/don't break, they are certainly the way ahead for me with hoof boots!
 
Seriously hacked off now as tried them this morning again having got a tip from someone about measuring the front gap, they are definitely too small on at least her bigger foot. Woe. Is. Me!

the front gap is supposed to be 7/10mm. On mine it was 20ml but they have worked on that. I don't think you could go massively wide but perhaps a little more than suggested if the rest fits. I can get them on my hinds with that measurement but I suspect my fronts are like yours and just a too wide hoof, totally non raspable.

Yes the top of the gap on the big foot is 20mm. I thought this morning it actually looked too tight on the sole as well and that it may rub her foot. Not heard from the shop woman so if she thinks it might work I might give it a bash as I really like the look of them! Her feet are as bare as they are going to be as well and I don't think they will tighten up any as she's only probably been shod once or twice in her life. She's got good feet so I don't need need need them but I want them LOL
 
I only tried one, on the basis I could return the 2nd and cut my losses. I left it on for an hour, next day for about 3 hours to check for rubbing then I rode but got off every half mile to check. (put a renegade on the other foot to balance them up, sorry about the use of the word "renegade") Probably a bit silly and overkill but I was a bit concerned. No problem at all and they are really nice boots.
I checked they were not going to hit the coronary band, that I couldn't get my finger under the upright T bar at the back, I could barely get a finger in the back through the cross pieces and of course the gap and they didn't twist. Mine came from urban horse and that's what they told me to do.

I really wanted them as well!

I could do that although not sure I can return one. Bit annoying the place I bought them from who said they would advise on fitting has not replied to email yet. I don't want to use them and her say no they definitely don't fit.

If they would fit something else too I would go for it but I'd need to buy another horse to fit them :D
 
Has anyone tried the size 9 scoots yet? My trimmer tried my girl in her fitting shells only a few weeks ago, and she was too big for an 8, as in, her foot went in, but with a big gap in the front and would rub her big chunky heels.
Typically they've brought out the size 9 since then, so I'll be trying her in that size shell as soon as my trimmer has one, but unless they've taken bigger feet potentially having bigger heels into account, I'm not too hopeful.

And I reaaaally want scoots :(
 
Only about a million times in the last 3 days :(

However having removed the gaiter I'm thinking we are good to go. I can get a finger in at the back (not easily but they are also not cutting her foot off!).

About the same I think TP. They are blooming great. Cantered and everything. Been off and on to check for rubs and they are super. Good in mud too. Best booted hack I've ever had!

mine have about the same gap at the front and are very similar behind. Not using the gaiter. On our 3rd ride now and like you I think they are great. Downhill on very slippery dewy grass and our back end was firmly anchored to the ground. I have also found they are wearing well on tarmac/hard tracks.

Did I get the impression you liked them. LOL

Yes went through mud and only her (bare!) hinds slipped! Usually taking my life in my hands to ride through that with boots. Really impressed with the grip. Not a mark on her when I got home and her legs are clipped. They are a revolutionary boot if they stand up to hard work.
