I got stables built last May by Shadsandsteblesdirect. They are coming apart at the seams and sliding off the base. They say its maintainance and they are not liable. They say it is probably the horses leaning on them!!!! or the wind!! I thought that they where built for horses!!!, and should be strong enought to withstand a bit of British weather. With the stables warping with the movement the roof now leaks. So this is four stables and feed room lasting less than a year as they started coming appart in Feb, well that is when I noticed the movement so God knows when that started to happen. I feel so angry and let down by this company.
So what would you lot do if the same thing happened to you?

State the sale of goods act at them and take them and threaten court action... then follow it thru'. If they're telling you such cr*p they're never going to pay up. Just cut to the chase and get a judge to decide otherwise you're probably wasting your time...

I have talked to them and stated the sale of goods act etc and they have said just go ahead. I will have to take action but I have so much other stuff happening at the moment I could really do with out the hastle. I am getting another company to come out to report on the condition of them and to repair them. I intend to sue for the cost back.

Talk to Trading Standards. They may well advise you to get a specialist to give you an opinion on the state of the stables, his report should include photographs and their suitability as stables, put your complaints in writing to the original company, give them a 7 working day deadline to get back to you with a date for remedying the problem, send the letter recorded delivery, if nothing happens straight to court. If your claim is for less than 5,000 you can go to small claims court which is very straight forward. Do not carry out any repairs until you have a professional record of the problems.

I have done all this (except for taking it to small claims court yet) I have to get them fixed as I need to house my four horses in them.
